What is a Programme Ambassador?
The Public Arts Trust of India is committed to investing in the skills and talent of those who want to work with us and who share our commitment to ensuring that art is accessible to everyone. Our Ambassadors programme is integral to this commitment, offering vital work experience for anyone wanting to pursue a career in the arts, but additionally, supporting visitor experience and engagement with our exhibitions and events.
Your application will be an opportunity for you to tell us more about your career ambitions, areas of interest and skill set, ensuring you get the most from your experience and that your time working with us helps you take the next steps in your career.
As a Programme Ambassador, you will:
Take a forward-facing role and be responsible for ensuring that everyone who visits the Art Week has a high-quality experience by providing a knowledgeable and proactive welcome at every venue.
Interact with the Art Week’s audiences at all our venues and events to ensure visitors are offered a safe and memorable experience.
Work closely with the curatorial team and exhibiting artists to ensure the Art Week audiences engage with their works as intended.
Support PATI’s core team in many aspects of the Art Week’s programme delivery and day-to-day administrative and runner tasks as required.
What will I get from the experience?
Although positions are voluntary, we respect how important our Programme Ambassadors are to our audience’s experience, so we’ve put together a package that supports you as much as you’ll support us.
Our Ambassadors programme will provide essential training and support young emerging creatives to develop their professional skill set to navigate the art sector confidently and gain the experience they need to climb their chosen career ladder. During the programme, you will:
Gain meaningful work experience, tailored to your career ambitions, to add to your CV.
Have access to opportunities to build professional connections and to network with your peers and arts professionals.
Additionally, we can provide you with a reference letter, but you will need to complete 5 shifts or more during the Art Week to take up this offer.
How Do I Apply?
What experience do I need to have to apply?
You don’t need any previous experience or art related qualifications to apply as we’ll provide all the training needed to ensure everyone on the team has the tools they need to create a meaningful experience for our audiences. Our training will make sure you have a comprehensive understanding of the Art Week, its exhibiting artists, their works and our programme. We’ve outlined a timeline below to help you understand the full commitment:
The deadline for applications is Sunday, 1st December 2024. We will not accept any late applications.
Our team will shortlist applications after the deadline and be in touch for an informal chat or let you know if you’ve not been successful on this occasion with some feedback and ways you can get involved in PATI’s other programmes in the future.
In early January, just before exhibition production begins, we’ll host a training event for all our selected Ambassadors to teach you all you need to know about the exhibiting artists and the programme, along with tips and tricks to engage our visiting audiences and the tools you’ll need to achieve this.
On the 26th January, the day before our exhibitions open to the public, we’ll give you all an exclusive exhibition preview to ensure you are primed and ready to meet our visitors.
